{"id":33,"date":"2014-11-12T20:00:19","date_gmt":"2014-11-13T01:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/?page_id=33"},"modified":"2014-11-13T21:57:04","modified_gmt":"2014-11-14T02:57:04","slug":"maps","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/?page_id=33","title":{"rendered":"MAPS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>These are Maps related to areas Pirates have frequently visited and used as Pirate HotSpots. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thanks to GoogleMaps for the pictures, these are a lot better then the old hand drawn maps, and will help give reference to the areas we will speak about often.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I will also add extra historical maps that are interesting and unique, and if we find any Pirate Maps showing us Hidden Treasure, I&#8217;ll put those up too&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Mediterranean-Sea.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-34\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Mediterranean-Sea.png\" alt=\"An Ancient Pirate Hotspot\" width=\"1360\" height=\"760\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mediterranean Sea<\/strong> was active with Pirates and Raiders throughout our history.<\/p>\n<p>That is until <strong>Rome<\/strong> finally cleared all the Pirates out of the Mediterranean in <strong>67 BCE,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thanks To<strong> Pompey The Great<\/strong>, the waters would stay <strong>Pirate free for about 4 centuries&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-44\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Caribbean-Sea.png\" alt=\"The Caribbean Sea\" width=\"1198\" height=\"725\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Golden Age of Piracy<\/strong> as well as the Popular <strong>Buccaneers<\/strong> of the 16th century made this Sea and these Islands their own.<\/p>\n<p>Also known as <strong>The Spanish Main, <\/strong>it was claimed by Spain but the English, French and Dutch thought otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone caught by the Spanish would be seen as Pirates and Interlopers and <del>be\u00a0dealt with accordingly<\/del><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8230;.They&#8217;d be hung until dead. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Atantic-Seaboard.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-45\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Atantic-Seaboard.png\" alt=\"The Atantic Seaboard\" width=\"665\" height=\"738\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Atlantic Seaboard<\/strong> is another favorite Pirate hangout and was used whenever the Pirates were <strong>avoiding Authorities \u00a0in the Caribbean<\/strong> or <strong>felt like blockading harbors up and down the coast.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Pirates Blackbeard &amp; Charles Vane<\/strong> both <strong>blockaded Charleston, South Carolina<\/strong> on separate occasions.<\/p>\n<p>Pirates were known to <strong>leave The Atlantic Seaboard<\/strong> and <strong>travel south<\/strong> when the weather was <strong>more favorable.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-China-Seas.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-46\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-China-Seas.png\" alt=\"The China Seas\" width=\"502\" height=\"724\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>China Seas<\/strong> have been used for Piracy for centuries.<\/p>\n<p>Pirate Junks of 100&#8217;s if not 1000&#8217;s would attack and plunder any that came into their way.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Gold-Coast.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Gold-Coast.png\" alt=\"The Gold Coast\" width=\"1136\" height=\"722\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A<strong> Pirate hangout<\/strong> used by the Pirates such as Bartholomew Roberts and others during the Golden Age of Piracy and before.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Indian-Ocean.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-49\" src=\"http:\/\/www.historyofpiratespodcast.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/The-Indian-Ocean.png\" alt=\"The Indian Ocean\" width=\"645\" height=\"796\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pirates of the late 17th century<\/strong> started traveling <strong>south along the African coast<\/strong>, and around <strong>the Cape of Good Hope<\/strong> into the <strong>Indian Ocean<\/strong> to <strong>Raid and Plunder<\/strong> the Goods travelling between<strong> India, The Middle-East and Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are Maps related to areas Pirates have frequently visited and used as Pirate HotSpots.
